Men Can Have Breast Cancer Too!

Women should inspect their breasts regularly for signs of lumps or masses; men should, too.  Breast cancer is a major health problem in women, but it also occurs in men.  Richard Roundtree, star of the original "Shaft" film, had the disease and is now promoting early breast cancer detection for males.  The breast cancer rate is 100 times higher in women than men, but the disease often kills men because it's usually unnoticed and ignored until it spreads and becomes deadly.  Men at greatest risk of breast cancer include those over 65, African-Americans, those exposed to radiation therapy and those with a family history of the disease.  Check your breasts regularly or have your girlfriend or wife do it - it could save your life.  (Latimes.com, July 12, 2004)
